While working in the industry of Public Relations it is important to keep up with the changes regarding pitches and whether it’s appropriate to send an email pitch or a regular pitch to media outlets. When pitching for your client it is important to remember that the TV Station, Journalist or Podcast host you’re sending the pitch to for your client might prefer email pitches.
Why?
Provides a quick blurb of who your client is
It’s more reader friendly
The contact information is readily available
It allows for them to determine if this is a story or client worth working/collaborating with
Email pitches are a quick and fun way to present your client without having to write an elaborate pitch such as a media kit or press release. You can give short and sweet facts or provide the most important details that will make your client memorable for the person reading your email pitch. Email pitches also help save you some time by helping you keep track of where or who the pitch was sent to. It allows you the opportunity to follow up with your media outlet of choice to inquire if they’re interested in your client and what they might be promoting whether it be themselves as musicians or actors, or a product such as a new beauty line. With email pitches becoming the new thing in PR, it is important to remain up to date on how to make your email pitches effective and successful. Use this tip and let me know if it worked for you!
